As you all know, SMC events happen thanks to our devoted volunteers, who get up at sparrow's fart once a month during SMC season to set up the course, to run the drink stations and start/finish line, to keep you safe at the bus lane crossing, and to tear down equipment at the end.

Sometimes it happens that volunteers need to hang around for an undetermined period of time when we have very late finishers. We love all of our runners, and do our best to accommodate, including providing early starts for those who want it. But we also want to be fair to our volunteers. And in doing so, we'd like to be able to tell them that they will be able to leave at a fixed time, and not need to hang about indefinitely.

So to help them out, we will be implementing cut-off times, as follows.

8:30 a.m. Soft cut-off time for the second lap of the 30km long run. Any 30km runners completing their second lap (20km) after 8:30 a.m will be instructed that they should instead complete 21.1 kms.
9:30 a.m. Final cut-off time. Volunteers will begin to tear down tents and the timing mat between 9:30 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. Any runners finishing after 9:30 a.m. are not guaranteed a finish time.

Don't forget that the option of beginning at 6:30 a.m. is available to any runners concerned about completing within these cut-off times. If you are still concerned about completing on time even starting at 6:30 a.m., then please get in contact us, and we can arrange an earlier start time. As volunteers and drink stations may not be set up in time for earlier starts, this can be done only at your own risk.

Thanks for running with SMC!
